Where can I find information on the Catholic religion. My mother (whom I don't live near), is converting, and I'm curious as to what Catholics believe. I'm Protestant, but I've always had an interest in Catholicism. I don't think I'll ever convert, but I just want some comprehensive information on the beliefs, customs, holidays, etc of Catholicism. Thanks.

Hi, I too am a Protestant interested in Catholicism. Here are a few good websites. try www.newadvent.org. This site is kind of old. It contains a Catholic encyclopedia with tons of info. Beware though, this was written in like the 1800's, so some of the stuff is kind of hard to digest. You could also try www.ewtn.com. This is the website for the Catholic news channel, but it contains a document and audio/visual library, a FAQ section and sections on faith, prayers and Catholic teachings. You may also try www.Catholic.com. This site has a lot of online articles and explains things in a fairly straightforward manner. There are also sites which containe an online edition of the Catholic Catechism, but I'm not sure what they are. I'd recommend just typing "online Catholic Catechism" into a search engine. If you have any more questions, please feel free to write back and ask me. I love talking about religion (and most anything else).

I had a very good online catholic Catechism back in the day. I can go look and see if I still have the link, if you wish. I was also raised Catholic, have kind of drifted over time, but still try to remain active to a certain extent. If you wanna discuss Catholicism, go ahead and give me a shout. Just be warned, my approach is rather liberal.

Here is another web site you can try.

Go to www.ewtn.com. Hope this helps

I was born and raised Catholic, but I drifted away for a while.

My husband and I are now Catholic and are going to stay that way.

Well, there is the Catholic Guild for the Blind. Sorry, I'll have to look up the website. Otherwise try a google search for catholic for the blind, or blind catholics.
No, I don't know much about this because I'm not catholic. My mom and her family were raised catholic, but she left the church after they wouldn't baptize me because she was single and had adopted me. Stupid, i think. There are too many rules for me.

Chasity,
first forgive me if i'm spelling that wrong. I am a bit shocked that you couldn't be baptized. I am catholic and had my daughter, that i adopted, baptized this past december. wonder if it was something with the church she went to? or if it was something with my church? dunno.

There is a blind-catholics list that used to be on yahoogroups.

I'm not sure if this is the same page as the .com site mentioned above, but another source of Catholic information is at www.catholic.org. It has Catholic news, an encyclopedia, and lots of other information relating to Catholicism. I am also a Catholic and have been one for all my life.
